I have joined a group locally who are learning to paint but I am more comfortable with a needle than a brush!
Luckily, our 'prof' was also a textile teacher so I spend the time happily playing with fabric and fibres to create some textile art.

Canvas Stitches
I have never tried any Canvas stitching before so I found my trusty Needlework Encyclopedia and this is the result. I tried to find some more feathery stitches to represent the lichen growth and some smooth and more raised stitches to represent the different aspects of the stones themselves.
Colours in the wall
The colours in the wall mixed with watercolours.
The colours mixed with soft pastels which were not as successful as they are much more difficult to mix.

Wall rubbings
I have made several rubbings of the wall in oil pastels and charcoal. This seems to be the best one, is it ok?
I took a small section and enlarged it to use as my sample.
If these are ok I'll put them into my sketchbook and start properly!
